N'Djamena - Abéché - Lake Chad

A chadian riding the streets of N'Djamena, Chad

N'Djamena (see N'Djamena in pictures here)

Although it lies far in the western corner of the country, N’Djamena is truly the center of Chad.  On the banks of the Chari river, it is the capital of Chad.  N’Djamena (pronounced "injamina") is positioned in close proximity with Cameroon and the town of Kousseri.  Earlier this year, in an attempted coup, many N’Djamena residents fled to Kousseri.  In peaceful times (and most are), N’Djamena is hands-down the most popular place for Westerners to visit.  It contains more hotels and restaurants than any other city in Chad.  N’Djamena is also an important location for international businesses and relief organizations, as it is a good spot for investment.
