N'Djamena Cinema Festival Ends

Afrique en ligne (6/7/09)
Chad - The third edition of the Euro-African festival cinema ended here on Saturday, befittingly with a cartoon show titled "Arthur et les minimoys" by Luc Besson.

The cartoon was about Arthur, a child held spellbound by tales told by his grand -mother to send him to sleep.

Once asleep, Arthur dreamt about African tribes and unbelievable inventions drawn from an old book of magic inherited from his grand-mother who went missing mysteriously for four years.

The child realized that his grand-father left many clues, showing that a treasure was hidden in the garden and that some tiny creatures, invisible to the nakedeye, called the "minimoys" lived underground.

Arthur, who is 10 years old, decided to follow his grand-father's clues to discover the "minimoys" and the seven earths of the kingdom. However, to join them, there is only one solution: shrink and become a minimoy.

PANA reports that during the 10-day festival, nine African and European movies were shown in the capital city of N'Djamena, Moundou, the second largest city of the country, Sarh, Abeche and in 40 villages.

The movies included "Paris a tout prix" by Josephine Ndagnou, "Ezra" by Nexton Aduaka, winner of the 2007 FESPACO grand-prix, "Kirikou et les betes sauvages" by Michel Ocelot and Benedict Galup and "Hyene" by Djibril Diop Mambety from Senegal.
